Am I exempt from paying tax?
If you are disabled or have a long-term illness, you will not be charged VAT on products designed or adapted for your own personal or domestic use. All that we require for you to qualify for this is to state your illness or disability prior to your purchase.
Please note, injuries such as broken bones do not qualify for this exemption as these will heal over time and not considered long-term illness.
What if I lose my key?
If you can’t find your mobility scooter key, there are a few steps you can take. Firstly, contact us if you brought your mobility scooter direct from our Store. Scooter keys are the same for the vast majority of models and we may be able to replace your key. Alternatively you can move the scooter without a key, put it in freewheel mode, you can find the lever under the seat. The scooter can be manually pushed in neutral gear.
Does my mobility scooter need maintenance?
Yes. Just like a car, mobility scooters require regular maintenance. General maintenance includes tire inspection, overall cleaning, battery maintenance, making sure the lights work and replacing parts when needed.
How can I get my mobility scooter repaired?
If you use your mobility scooter every day and put a lot of miles on it, eventually, repairs may be needed. Whether it’s a simple repair or something more complicated, speak to a member of our staff and we will book you in with our on-site technician. Regular service checks are vital to keeping your scooter running smoothly.
Can I carry passengers on my mobility scooter?
No, our mobility scooters are designed to bear the weight of one individual (the user). We recommend against carrying a person with you on your mobility scooter. If you try to do so, your mobility scooter can topple, and both you and the passenger may get injured.
Do I need a driving licence to operate a mobility scooter?
No, you do not need a license to drive a mobility scooter. We do recommend you to be careful, especially if you have not been active in traffic for a while.
Is there any difference between 3-wheel and 4-wheel scooters (apart from the number of wheels)?
4-wheel scooters usually have a wider wheelbase than their 3-wheel counterparts. 3-wheel scooters are more compact, lightweight, and have a shorter turning radius than 4-wheel scooters.

You can find the serial number in your manual,. You can recognise it by looking for the number that starts with an ‘S’ and is a total of 14 characters long.
On the mobility scooter itself, you can find it in between the batteries, or on a white sticker on the chair mast.
How often do I need to charge the batteries?
How often you use your mobility scooter or power chair determines how often you should charge your batteries.
If you use your mobility scooter or power chair daily, charge the batteries as soon as you finish using your mobility product for the day. We recommend charging your batteries for at least eight to 14 hours after daily use. If you use your mobility scooter or power chair less frequently, we recommend charging the batteries eight to 14 hours twice a week for a maintenance charge. We do not recommend charging the batteries for longer than 14 hours. Refer to the owner’s manual supplied with your battery charger for additional information.

How do I clean my power chair?
Your power chair comes with an ABS plastic body shroud that allows it to be easily wiped clean. Use a damp cloth to clean the plastic and metal parts of the unit. You can use a mild, non-abrasive cleanser. If necessary, the power chair can be cleaned with an approved disinfectant, but not before making sure that the disinfectant is safe for use on the chair. Please avoid using any products that may scratch the surface of your power chair and keep your chair clean and free of foreign material, such as mud, dirt, food, drink, etc.
Am I covered under warranty if I’m not the original owner?
No, warranties for Pride Mobility products only apply to the original owner of the product and are not transferrable.
How often do I need to charge the batteries?
The frequency of battery charging depends on your usage of the mobility scooter or power chair. If you use it daily, it’s best to charge the batteries immediately after each use, aiming for a charging duration of eight to 14 hours. For less frequent use, a maintenance charge of eight to 14 hours twice a week is recommended. Avoid charging for more than 14 hours, and consult your battery charger’s owner’s manual for further guidance.
What if my power chair gets wet?
To protect your power chair from potential damage caused by water, avoid damp areas. If your power chair encounters water, dry it thoroughly with a towel as soon as possible. Then, place it in a warm, dry location for 12 hours to allow any hidden moisture to evaporate. Prior to using your electric wheelchair again, check the operation of the joystick and brakes. If you notice any issues, contact us for assistance.

What is the correct way to sit in and operate my lift chair?
To use your lift chair correctly, follow these steps: Ensure it’s in the standing position, then back into the center of the seat before pressing the DOWN button on your hand remote to lower it to a comfortable seated position. When you’re ready to stand, press and hold the UP button on the remote until the chair reaches a suitable height for comfortable standing. For reclining, press and hold the DOWN button from a seated position until you’re comfortably reclined, and to return to an upright seated position, press and hold the UP button, releasing it when the chair reaches a comfortable seating angle.
Can I use the armrests on my lift chair when attempting to stand?
Avoid putting all your weight on the lift chair’s arm rests. When transferring into your lift chair from a walker or power chair, or when attempting to stand up, we recommend the use of assistive aids and/or a caregiver or attendant for enhanced stability when standing or sitting. Avoid dropping your full weight down into the seat. This can cause damage to your lift chair.
